me in a tree
The past two days I´ve spent in and around the Andes mountains. Yesterday we did a high mountain tour which consists of a bus ride up into the mountains. Obviously, we don´t go to the tops, but we got some good views and pictures. We got out and did a little trekking, but mostly we stayed in the bus where it was warm(i did see snow however). Although I liked the high mountain tour, it was a little lazy for me and I was aching to go for a run when I got back-so I did, in the large park nearby called Parque San Martin. I spent the rest of the night grabbing dinner by myself, using the internet at a cafe, calling home, reading, and doing a makeshift workout in my room at the hostel. By the way, if you´ve never been to a hostel, it is in the least an experience.

The rooms are filled with so many beds that if you aren´t in your bed, you´re in someone´s way. There are few restrooms(2.5 in our case) and lots of beds(at least room for 32). The provided breakfast is a biscuit(known as scones to people in other english-speaking areas). We´ll come back to hostel life later... Today, we went on a trek. It was probably my favorite thing so far in Mendoza. We did somewhere around and hour to and hour and a half of trekking(me with a 15lb backpack carrying all our stuff) and then we reached a few ridges/cliffs that we rappelled down. The first was 12meters, the second 8, and the 3rd and best was 40METERS!!! It was so much fun! By the time we finished, it was 3:30 and we were famished(we´d left the hostel at 9:30). Then, we went to a hotsprings. A little less natural than I´d imagined. The hot water was natural, but they had it flowing into manmade pools. At any rate it was relaxing with a nice view. Back to hostel life... So one of the girls with us has been getting bit by something at night so we went to move our stuff to a new room and found out that two of our guys had stuff stolen(one his comp, and the other his ipod) no good. Luckily I had my comp locked up! anyway, im in a hurry but i promise to load pics soon.
