I'm afraid nature was very bored...

If I had stuck with the reformulated plan, today would have begun by conquering a few hikes near Brevard.  I must have been feeling cocky, though, because it seemed the serendipity of hitting Asheville yesterday put me on a winning streak.  The only remaining 'must' was meeting my daughter for lunch in Greensboro tomorrow and I rolled the dice.  Research had not revealed much about Morganton, but that was where my hotel was and I opted for some prospecting.

Had to cover a fair patch of road, but after a leisurely check-out and some time behind the wheel, rolled into town just before 1PM.  Located my lodging and dropped in at a nearby Denny’s to score lunch and kill some time in hopes of being able to check in afterwards.  I only had to wait a few extra minutes because a room was ready except for towels, so I got to unbundle.

Now the dilemma became an absence of anything to do.  I asked my waitress at Denny’s, the clerk at the Day’s Inn and scoured the rack of tourist pamphlets at the hotel for opportunities and found zilch.  Truth be told I was tired, so I holed up and scribbled out the last few days adventures.  For dinner I stomped over to a nearby diner, hoping for an interesting experience.  It was, but not for the right reasons, as described in the following review.

With apologies to Morganton, I found nothing here worthy of investigation.
