At the roof top bar
On arrival at the airport we were greeted by the local tour operator who teamed us up with another guy on the tour for the taxi ride to the hotel.  It was a fairly quick ride, and would have been quicker had the driver known where he was going and didn't have to stop and ask for directions or reverse along various streets trying to get out.

The hotel was top notch and alot higher standard than what we were expecting.  Rooms are spacious and clean - with some even having a large balcony.  We dropped our bags in the rooms and headed up to the roof top bar - which wasn't quite roof top but close enough.  We spent some time catching up with Jamie and Mish and all their travels, meeting some of the people on tour and just enjoying a nice cold beer.

We all headed down stairs to the main bar for a general meet and great and to find out the plans for the next few days from our tour leader Claire.  It was about this time when Scott (Jamie's younger brother) arrived - he was to be Craig's room mate for the night, while Bec and Mel were put together.  After the normal jibber jabber we headed off to the Sah Bar for more drinking and to meet up with some of the other tour groups that are doing different length tours than the 5-day patrol we were in.

A few of us got a bit hungry and thought it would be a good idea to have some food in our stomachs so we headed off to get a kebab as nothing goes better with beer than a greasy kebab.  Due to the excitement of getting stuck into drinking and not realising that alot of the corner kebab places close around 10 we ended up walking alot further than we planned.

We stumbled across a nice little restaurant which had a walk-up window.  The food was very tasty but portion was small - however this meant there was more room left for beer so it's not all bad.

After standing and drinking for so long, the old legs were getting a bit weary so we headed into a small cafe next door for a bit of a rest.  It was actually a hookah bar (not hooker's thankfully) and a number of locals were playing backgammon and enjoying smoking the flavoured tobacco through a water pipe. So "when in.. do as.." came into play and we ordered an apple and a coffee flavoured pipe.  We were surprised as we began to suck on the pipe that the smoke actually tasted like apple or coffee and wasn't harsh like expected.  It was actually quite pleasant.

At around midnight we decided to head back to the hotel to get some rest before our long bus ride to Gallipoli the following day.  Scott and Mel decided to stay back and continue drinking - well they paid the price the next day.
