Seaport Village
Having arrived in San Diego a bit early, we decided to head to Seaport Village to kill some time. Driving in from Arizona, I couldn't resist the sights and sounds of the ocean and the park like setting of Seaport Village was a perfect place to take the kids. They could run around checking out shops, play with Balloon swords, have caractures drawn, or just enjoy the beauty of the ocean and the boats as they sail by.
We started out pocking in and out of the various art galleries and retail stores playing with everything in sight, but as we made our way towards the ocean wall, it was the man with all the birds that caught there eye. Macaws, Parrots, Parrokeets, and he was letting everyone hold them. Off they ran in hopes of getting a closer look or even holding them too.
After hearing the stories of the rehab on several of these birds and making our small contribution, the kids finally tired of them and hit up the nearby balloon man. He had some amazing ballon figures he had made, but boys will be boys, they wanted swords and guns.Next up was the unsuspecting artist. She was making charcoal drawings for those who could sit still long enough. Guess that ruled me out. However my middle son thought that he wanted to give it a go. $20 bucks later and that was the quietest and stillest that we had ever seen him. I offered to take her home if she could keep up that magic. At home he is a whirlwind at all times. She laughed and declined but thanked me for my offer.
After running and sword fighting in the grassy park area by the ocean, it was time for a quick bite of an early lunch so we could make it to the ship on time. After all, this was why we came to San Diego.
