The destination: the province of AndalucĂa, southern Spain. The means: a Kia C'eed 1.6 diesel. The objective: visit the province and try to get as much culture as possible. The result: a great experience.

Granada

Everyone who visits Andalucia should pay a visit to Granada, it is as simple as that. And by Granada I mean especially the Alhambra, the large fort (including palace and gardens). Otherwise it would be like going to Paris without visiting the Eiffel Tower. So off I went. As there are a lot of people going to the Alhambra the city has made some limiting regulations. Access to the buildings on the site is limited by a ticket that's either valid in the morning or in the afternoon. Some 6000 tickets are available on a daily of which around 2000 can be purchased on location. Big risk! I bought my ticket in advance using this website: http://www.alhambra-patronato.es/ Together with the ticket for the complex you get also assigned a half hour time slot during which you can get access to the most important building of all: the Palacio Nazaries.

Be on time! I wasn't expecting for a south European country to be this exact about time, almost Swiss-like. The time slots are very strict and no compassion is shown for people who are late by something like a minute. For planning: you can easily spend an entire day at the Alhambra and it's extremely easy to get there (by either car or public transport).

That said, especially the Palacio is very worth all the time and ticket trouble for. The site Alhambra consists of several different parts: the Alcazabra, the Palacio Nazaries and the Generalife. To my opinion the Palacio is the most interesting of the three, it is a palace in the same style as the Alcazar in Sevilla only maybe even more beautiful. Make sure the battery of your camera is full before going here as you'll need it.
