We planned to leave at 9 so we will have breakfast at 8. They showed us where it was. It was next to the entrance and a little bit higher. The room was nice but is was very, very hot inside. Only 1 or 2 fans were there. The boys who prepared our breakfast were not interested in us. We were the only guests there, so they looked at us, and I could see them thinking: please go ASAP. But I have to tell that the breakfast was oké! So very fast we were ready and back to the room to pack our last things. We stopped at an old water basin. It was dirty and not been use for a long time, but the walls around it where very beautiful.
At 11 am we had a stop along the road to drink something and stretched our legs. There were few people passing and a woman stopped and wanted to talk a little bit.
She could not speak English, so our driver had to translate the Hindi to English. An hour later we stopped at a Hanuman statue for taking some pictures and 10 minutes later at a monkey cave. We were already close to Bikaner
and arrived soon at the famous Junagarh fort. The first impression was: waaw, that is really a nice fort. We got our tickets and a headset for a guided tour and we went inside. It is really a very impressive fort. Some rooms a so beautiful, you cannot imagine that this is possible. We were again almost the only tourist and that will help us to see more of the fort. Some guards looked at us and the asked us to follow him to find beautiful room behind closed doors.
Cloud Palace in Junagarh Fort
They open them for you and you really find impressive rooms, so nice decorated. At last he showed us on the top floors the places where the bats live. I still don't know if we are the only once who has seen this, or if they do this to every tourist. It always end up with a hand that is asking for money.... But it was worth it. We took so many pictures, that I almost show every one in this blog.... No not true, I have many more. We stayed here probably 2,5 hours and then we had our lunch across the street in Gallops restaurant. The food was good, but I liked the cool temperature more.
A short stop we took in front of a Veterinary institute just to take a picture. The last visit was to the Lallgarh palace what has changed to a hotel.
At 5pm we arrived at our hotel Bhanwas Niwas.
Diner at Amber restaurant
We got a special large room. It was very large, we had an entrance, a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom. Special at the bathroom was that our toilet was ...... 10 steps high. You could sit there like a king overlooking the bathroom.
We met our guide from tomorrow to plan the tour in old Bikaner, and our first Camel safari. We decided where we would have diner that evening and he offered to bring us to that restaurant. We went to Amber restaurant. This Restaurant is one of the most renowned restaurants at Bikaner. This restaurant is located close to the Station Road. The most popular segment of the wide range of delicacies that are on offer in this restaurant is the Indian vegetarian food served in thali system. The food was very good! So remember "AMBER restaurant" if you visit Bikaner.
We left at 10:15 for our hotel and went to the 'bar' and had a drink and we played cards for a while. At midnight it was time to find our beds for a good sleep.
