Back at home, our view across the canal

I've never been so scatter-brained concerning flight details. I believe in karma but, am not sure about what was up, here. Whatever I needed to make up for, I hope that I've paid it back.

This has been a learning experience for both of us. We will make extra efforts to check all travel plans, both of us. I hope to never repeat this very expensive mistake.

This journey, unilike my others, has brought me little pieces of my past. I will never forget my first discovery of these places and what I found there. I have materials to do some research with. I have books with pictures and words showing the contribution to art and society. It doesn't surprise me but, does excite me that I have this proof in my possession.  I'm so happy that Rob could be there to share it with me.

I will continue to research my Italian roots and learn a bit of Italian, also. I'll go back, next year, and attempt to dig around in Caccamo and Spadafora. I hope to uncover more of my family's history and meet some of my relatives that live in these places, today.

Knowing where you come from better helps you understand who you are. From this little piece, I already understand some whys and hows that most people never get a chance to know.

Viva Spadafora!

Viva Sicilia!
