doors weren't closed for us!
This was Shawn's 3rd time in Lima and one of the things he was looking forward to do was a gastronomic tour, hahaha. He was reading the reviews I had wrote and decided to try different dishes in Lima. Knowing how much he likes beans, I commented him about a restaurant - whose chef / owner is a famous old lady admired by one of the best chefs in Peru - that offers a bean buffet last Fridays of the month. He would stay in Peru for 2 weeks and would be in town last Friday of November, so this restaurant became part of the "Things to do", hahaha.

Arriving to the restaurant wasn't as easy as I thought. Traffic was crazy! Still don't know how I made it so fast, hahaha. I wasn't sure about the address either, but took the right entrance and found a parking spot right at the entrance of the restaurant, sweet! It was early, so we found a table without any problems.
bean pizza!

Buffet was on the second floor, so we kept on going up and down. Actually this was a good thing, so we could stretch our legs, hahaha. Wow! The buffet table was incredible. I haven't ever seen so many dishes with beans. Of course you can find a soup and different casseroles, but also unique things like: beans pizza, beans with pineapple, beans with chocolate, beans with coconut & orange (Brazilian style) among others.

I tried so many things: soup (was delicious), pizza (interesting, also too much crust for me), Brazilian beans (with orange and coconut, very tasty), taco, bean salad (fresh and full of flavor), among others. Also they had delicious sauces and spices. I was avoiding the meat, but Shawn didn't hahaha. He tried everything! Which worked perfect for me, since I didn't have to have all that food, just tried a bite from his plate, hahaha.
anisette shot - great idea!
As a good mother I was thinking about Gunther and took a small container with me.  Most of the stews had pork and also the soup. I didn't eat it, but saved it for Gunther. That was the little container for ;)

I was forgetting to mention, that the cover includes not only the buffet, but also an appetizer platter. It had: plantains, thin beef, fried eggs and empanadas and stuffed potatoes. Of course the empanadas and potatoes were stuffed with beans, hahaha. From this platter, we only had the plantains and empanadas. We had to save space for the buffet, hahaha. Beef would be highly appreciated by Gunther :)

Wow! we ate too much, but that wasn't over yet. There's a typical dessert called: Frejol colado. And yes, it's made with beans. We just ordered one and had just 1 bite. The flavor is a bit weird... Also they serve you an anisette shot. I'm not a big fan of it, but it helps digestion. After such a big meal, that was really helpful. Specially because I had classes later and wanted to stay awake :P

Ok, let's go to pick up Gunther. By the way he enjoyed his pork and beans :)
