Fun and food for Yadi and BiG, and yes we were the last customers at a restaurant again :P

lucky 7!
There was something BiG wanted to do before leaving Lima and was going to an open market. He just had 2 days available: Saturday and Friday. So good, we had a long weekend, so we could go to the market on Friday instead of busy Saturday. Went to the gym at 10am and checked some stuff at home, before going to Javier's to pick up BiG. He was already waiting for me and we started our adventure of the day.

We drove to Magdalena. Traffic was really light, yay! Love to drive on a holiday, hehehe. We arrived to Magdalena around 1pm. It was easy to find a parking spot and we were ready to go and start our inspection. BiG took his camera out and started to take some pictures. Then we listened to a lady calling BiG, mmm. What's going on? I was thinking maybe she'd say it wasn't safe to take pictures, but she was so upset.
tasty stuffed yuca!!!
She didn't want us to take any picture from her or the market. What?!?! She said there were 2 other people doing the same... She was very rude. She was the only one like that. Oh well...

Before leaving home I asked mom if she'd like something from the market and she wanted some toasted lima beans and nutos (sweets made of yuca from the rainforest). So, we started to look for these items. I have been there just a couple of days ago, but couldn't find the way by myself, so I had to ask for directions. Found the stand, got the sweets for my mom and an extra bag for us. We were starting to walk when I saw something that I was sure BiG would love. BiG loves the "papa rellena" (stuffed potato) and also the yuca. And the thing I found was "yuca rellena" - best combination, hahaha.
hot!!!
It was a small restaurant / stand serving rain forest food. The lady was very polite, what a huge difference with the other one, and we agreed to sit down and order one of these babies, hehehe. It was so tasty!!! And they also had the cocona aji, hurra!!! Next time I'm in the market, I'd go straight there :P

It was time to keep on walking. In our way I saw a staal selling fried yucas. Despite I've never tried them, I was sure BiG would love them, since he likes yuca so much. We got 1 portion, which was incredibly cheap. Well, I wasn't wrong. BiG loved this snack, hahaha. He told me it was similar to something he tried in Asia for breakfast, mmm, probably. Oh well, it was the opportunity for me to try this snack too.
Yadi & BiG
I avoid it because of all the oil, but a bite wouldn't kill me :P

It was almost 2 pm, but we were full to have lunch right now, so BiG would join me to do some regular stuff, hehehe. I needed to look for a place to frame a painting and a picture. Finally we found a good one and now we would go to have lunch. But where? Mmm, we couldn't make a decision. So we decided to take a look at one place I always saw crowded during the weekends. They serve fish and seafood. We arrived, it wasn't too crowded, but there were people eating there (good sign). Ok, let's give it a try. We wouldn't eat much here, just 1 cebiche. So we could save space to go for a seafood dish somewhere else, hehehe.

This place is about food from Tumbes. We got a cebiche mixto especial.
nice church in Magdalena - the virgin Mary is pointing that delicious restaurant. Follow her!
Mixto because it had fish & seafood and special because it had black mussels, typical from Tumbes. The personal was big, so it was a good idea to share it. It was fresh and tasty. I really like the boiled yuca and the seafood. The fish was a bit overcooked for me. I think it was marinated too long. After a tasty pre lunch, it was time to go to the next restaurant and get our seafood dish.

The next restaurant has 2 locations very close to each other. I've visited #2 and wanted to go to #1, but couldn't find it. Well, at least we had opportunity to walk a bit, show him around and make some space for more food, hahaha. The waiter came and I was in charge of ordering. It didn't take me more than 1min to order the food, I already knew what to get. Here they just have 3 sizes of portions - actually platters: small, medium and large.
I asked for aji and they gave me this chopped chilies - very spicy!!!
The small platter is huge, so I asked if we could get 1/2 but it wasn't possible with the dish we chose. oh well, we'd do our best :P

The waiter asked if we'd like to drink something, but we preferred not to waist any single possible space in our stomachs, hahaha. So good, we did so. A few minutes later the waiter came and the quantity of food was huge!!! This would be a challenge. OMG! That was so much food, but so tasty... we started to eat step by step, taking our time, at same time we were just chatting and chilling out.

Then I realized waiters were walking from one place to another and I saw it. We were the last customers! Again! hahaha. It happened to us yesterday at the bakery, hahaha. After a small break, we tried to reassume our food challenge but it was too much.
we almost finished it all!
.. we had to quit. It was already 4:45pm and the waiters, cooks and owners were staring at us, but not in a rude way, just smiling, hahaha.

I recognized the owner of the place and BiG asked her if he could get a pic with her. All the crew found it so hilarious. This restaurant became one of my favorites and I'm sure they would remind my face :P

Then we drove back home. We ate too much, so taking Gunther for a loooong walk was the best to do. We all enjoy it very much and BiG could see that I'm not exagerating when I say Gunther is crazy, hehehe. I haven't realized it, but BiG made me realize that Gunther jumps like a rabbit, hahaha.

After a good walk, we were just chilling out at home when I got a phone call from Javier. They would wait for us at 9pm. A good bye party would take place. Sorry, I don't have many pics about the party. I didn't stay too long... Nevertheless I had so much fun and enjoyed it a lot. I'm gonna miss BiG... hey! we still have one more day :P
