Day 5 - Pisac
October 6, 2009
So we started our day at the crack of no dawn to catch our flight to Cuzco. We were greeted in Cuzco by Cristina to get us to our hotel, the Arqueologo. We originally had the day to ourselves but decided last minute to book a private tour of Pisac.
Mary, our tour guide, and Jose Luis, our driver, were excellent hosts for our 4 hour journey. The Pisac ruins date back as far as 500 A.D. if we remember Mary's information correctly. What a fantastic sight. To see all that the Inca's accomplished by hand! And you can still see where current day farmers walk the mountains to farm. A bit awe inspiring.
Made our way back down to Cuzco for the evening where we walked into the main square and found ourselves right in the midst of a protest by a group of local farmers. Not sure what they were protesting but it was certainly an interesting sight. We finished off the evening at a fantastic local restaurant that was a bit of fusion between Italian and Peruvian flavor.
Tomorrow is our full tour of Cuzco.
