I vacationed in Turkey for 3 weeks in hot September 2009

Pamukkale Tavertines & Hierapolis

Also known as Cotton Castles, the tavertines of Pamukkale are the highlights of any visit to Pamukkale. Our hotel was situated within walking distance to the tavertines, so it was very convenient. Would have gone early in the morning, but we sleep late whenever we get the chance :X so halfway up, we were greeted by the throngs of tourists arriving by tour bus, probably from some nearby or not-so-nearby town.

Next to the cotton castles was Hieropolis, a historical site we meandered through.
