Before take-off
We booked a hot-air balloon ride with Goreme balloons for 120€/person. The bus came to our cave hotel to pick us at 5.30am, and took us nearby to the launch area. Hot coffee and tea were provided, because it's cold that early in the morning. Wear a sweater! There was a little fire there to heat you up as well. Nearby, several balloons were being prepared. Shortly after, we had to go find our balloons, and a photographer came around taking photos. They later sell the photos for 7 lira each.

We had to climb into the balloon basket, which was fairly easy. The basket we took accommodated about 10 people. I'm not sure if there were bigger ones, with other companies. The balloon took off, with our pilot who had 13 years of experience.

I liked Goreme balloons because it sounded reliable and that they had years of experience. We weren't the only ones who thought that way, because many of the balloons we saw during our flight belonged to Goreme balloons. Plus they are the ones with the pretty colourful balloons. I'd be so sad if I were in a boring grey balloon that advertised some Kia or Honda brand :P

The flight ended with a champagne toast and certificate presentation.
