Chile!
October 13, 2009
At 880 pesos to the pound we are millionaires in Chile. This new millionaire lifestyle includes sharing a bathroom with 20 other people and doing our own washing up.
Santiago is a big city, surrounded by snow-capped mountains that you can just about see through the smog. There are two big hills in the centre which are also parks, these give a good view of the city, and the smog.
They eat a lot of pies here (empanadas), mostly cheese based or 'pino' which are a bit like Cornish pasties, but with hard boiled eggs inside, very tasty.
Took the local rickety bus to San José de Maipo in the mountains, with ice cream hawkers and a guitar playing busker for company.
