We awoke early on the Oscar Wilde. (that turned out to be the name of the ship) We hurried our way down to the lower decks for some breakfast and to watch the sunrise over the ocean. With nothing but deep blue around us and a burning red and yellow sun on the horizon, it was a beautiful morning. The ship was due in port around 2pm so we wandered through a gift shop on board and did our best to kill time. When the Irish coast became visible in the distance we made our way to the top deck and watched it come closer. Ireland was very high on our lists of places to see and we were anxious to get there. It was not a disappointment. Green as far as the eye can see.
After we made port and left the ferry behind, we still had a few hours until a train would arrive to take us to Dublin so we walked into the small seaside town of Rosslare. On board we made acquaintances with a 23 year old from Australia named Matt and a 25 year old from Germany, Tom. As a group we made our way to a grocery store for lunch and a pub for a drink. You never forget your first beer in an Irish pub. After a bit we hustled back to the train station and rode for three hours into Dublin. We were meeting the parents of some family friends at the station and they were going to let us stay for a few days with them. When we arrived they were already there waiting for us. It was a relief to see some friendly faces in Kevin and Betty. They are wonderful people and we were looking forward to the next week. Cheers.
