I know this is a shock for anyone who knows me, but I am planning something... a silk road trip. I don't have a time frame yet (next spring I hope) but looking for any feedback from anyone. Also would love to find a few places to stay and friendly faces along the way.

Tajikistan

Will there be time for Tajikistan... the mountains make travel difficult, so I don't know.

If you enter Tajikistan at Penjikent (from Uzbekistan) and travel north towards Khojand (Uzbekistan?) you can see Iskandar Kul and a few towns in about a week. A quick warning, be prepared for some very hard travel and discomfort. Its a brilliant adventure though. See my blog www.andyandrach.blogspot.com the September and October archives.
