A van took us and 7 others for a day trip along the great ocean road, and as the day progressed the scenery grew increasingly spectacular. Clouds hid the sun for parts of our journey but later the sun bathed us with heat. The roads hugged the coastline and much of the way we were provided with stunning clear views of the ocean, beaches and bays. We stopped at empty beaches and strolled along the sand passing dramatic limestone and sandstone rocks. The twelve apostles were the most striking of these, rising out of the ocean, the water passing around the rock formations and crashing onto the golden beaches, devoid of any people. We stopped off at a place where we spotted Kuala's lazing in the trees and colourful wild birds flew & perched on our arms to eat seeds out of our hands. It was very cool. The only annoying aspect of the trip were the flies which constantly followed us in the baking heat, hovering about our faces. We arrived back in the City as the afternoon passed to evening and we spent the night watching a brilliant english comedy: Death at a Funeral, eating popcorn, donuts and other treats.
