Beautiful Paraty at night
Fortunately when the dawn broke on a new day we were all seeing the funny side of our rather eventful journey and we checked into neighbouring Geko hostel which was only marginally better but at least better.

Paraty itself is a beautiful old colonial town, blessed with picturesque cobbled streets with multicoloured door frames and window frames which makes for some great photos and some great wandering around. The atmosphere is really laid back and relaxed and there are some cool shops and bars to pass the time in. The town is also located on the “Verde coast’ of Brasil and blessed with beautiful beaches and rainforest-esque countryside.

We decided to make the most of our two days in town and on the first day took the 45 minute, bone rattling journey on the local bus to Trindade, arguably the area’s most beautiful beach. Set alongside tropical forests with clear turquoise water and sand that squeaks beneath your feet, it was a little drop of paradise. We took the mini hike through the first beaches through the forest shrubbery to find ourselves on an almost deserted stretch of beach. Tough this travelling lark!

The next day we took a boat trip out to some of the islands in the bay of Paraty. All of them little islands with lush foliage and beaches to die for. We snorkeled, swam and sunbathed until we could take no more. A tough way to spend a few days!

Paraty Hostels review
Horrible place. Rude staff, mouldy beds, basic breakfast and frankly you wouldn't step foot in the place if you had a choice.
