The Enigmatic Nazca

I actually don´t quite know where to begin. Nazca is in the heart of the dessert in Peru, a pretty small town but home to the famous Nazca lines. In order to properly see them you need to take a flight over the lines, so that´s what i did. The plane itself holds 6 people including the pilot and was much like the plane i used to parachute jump, although there was no escaping the plane this time! We flew over 14 of the most popular lines including the baby condor, condor, spider, whale and hummingbird. The lines themselves are an enigma, no one really knows what they were created for. They were discovered in the 1930´s when commerical flights started to take place over the valley. The lines are a series of geometric shapes, lines, animal figures, plants and insects and no wonder the pilots reported seeing them, they´re huge! They were created by removing the top layer of soil to rebeal the lighter sand below.
