Costa Rica indeed

Where to start? After months of travelling the hard way it was nice to finally stumble across a place that felt a bit like a holiday. Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica is definitely a lot more touristy than anywhere i've been in a while. Can see why many a weary traveller and American tourist come here to chillax.
The beautiful coastline that greeted us was certainly testamant to the name of the country. The coastline stretches for miles and it`s easy to find a spot that is soley for you. With white sand, blue (but very rough!) seas it's a tranquil place to while away some days. The town is a blend of hippy commune and Caribbean beach town with Bob Marley images plastered on anything that you can think of, Rustas on every corner peddling such gems as "chillax" and "beautiful baby come and chill".
The streets wind around the beach and incorporate restaurants, bars, shops and banks. Most of which were a shock to the bank balance. We checked into the most talked about hostal in Costa Rica ... Rocking J`s which is covered in mosaics and designs. It pretty much summed up the mood of the place and whoever had the patience to sit and do that deserves a medal. The town is small and easy to navigate but bikes are available to rent for $5 a day and you can peddle around, with your little basket on the front of a worn down old bike, and sing Sound of Music songs in your head. That is if the Rusta tunes haven't infiltrated your head first.
So on a health tip one morning we woke early, got our bikes and went for an hour of yoga, followed by a big fruit salad brunch and spent the day cycling around town and hitting the beach. The words "stick a fork in me" came to mind! Costa Rica was immediately different to every other place i`ve been in terms of the level of obvious tourism there. Americans were everywhere, the locals spoke in English at pretty much all times and you were hassled more than the average place. But it was hard to detract from the beauty of the place. Chillax chillax chillax!
