Charles Lindbergh State Park

Charles Lindbergh State Park. I couldn’t resist pulling off the highway for one more state park geocache. I was getting sleepy anyway and needed a break from driving. The office was closing as I pulled up so I grabbed a map and took off. It took me a bit to find the first location but I got it. I thought about taking the hiking club trail, but that would take 2 more hours and I wasn’t sure how late I wanted to get home. But it was the perfect fall day. Warm, with a hint of crisp, coolness to the air. The smell of fall in the air. Leaves turning and falling. I love fall.
I started the hike, but turned around. I had been reading a book and couldn’t wait to get back to it. I decided to pull out my camp chair and read in the park. When I got back to my car, I noticed I was the only one left in the park. Nice. I sat and read for a half hour while acorns dropped off the oak trees above my head. I stopped at the boat launch for one final geocache and then finished my drive home.
The famous pilot, Charles Lindbergh, grew up here, though the park is named for his father. You can tour the house, but it was closed when I got there. It looks like a nice park with some nice hiking trails and it is less than 2 hours from home. I’ll be back. Maybe not until I finish all 72 state park geocaches, but I will be back.
