Leaving Liechtenstein

Crossed over into Switzerland on the bus and arrived at Buchs SG station 20 minutes after leaving Vaduz. Went into the station to find there was no train at 10-13, and I would have to wait until 11-05 for a train to Zurich and then another change at Schafhausen,on the Swiss/German border . Bought ticket here straight through to Stuttgart, no problems with cross border ticketing here, but it still cost 103CHF.

With time to kill I went for a walk and headed past the industrial bit round the station to get a clear view of the hills. Came back and had a walk up the street and then back to the station. I went into the shop there to use up the loose coin I had, and bough ta couple of bottles of coke and still had enough for a fresh warm croissant :-)

Train was a couple of minutes late coming in, and before departure Swiss Border Security went through the train, though they never bothered with me.

Coming out of the station you could see the Schloss Vaduz sitting on the hill, but nothing else of the towns, they had disappeared, and you would never know they were there. I knew Liechtenstein was secretive, but didn't think they went as far as camoflaging their towns from passers by.

Train stopped once at Sargans, not very far,and then went straight through to Zurich. Passed through some lovely countryside, and alongside some lakes where the hills dropped right down to the water. Arrived in Zurich an hour and a half later, and didn't see any train to Schafhausen, though to be honest I didn't exactly look very hard. Had already decided that I would go out and see a bit of Zurich and head down as far as the lake.

Came out of the station and decided to the river down the way, seemed logical :-) .

Quite impressive view downriver, and more than a few clocks :-D. Wasn't really far to walk, but toook longer becausr of all the photo ops. Found out what the two churches were, and cut up one of the streets to get to the other side of the Grossmunster.

Made it down to the Lake Zurich, where they have something like the London Eye that would give you views out over the lake. Seemed quite a lot of cruise boats to take tourists round the lake, and from coming in on the train the other end looked more impressive. Waslked back up the other side of the river, with another wee detour down the back streets to seee what I could find.

Time to get moving again, still had to find how to get to Schaffhausen or I would never get to Stuttgart, and by now I should have been there two hours ago
