First of all, find accommodation. We were thinking about staying at the Malecon, just in front of the beach, like last time. So we'd have everything just walking distance, including the beach of course ;) At the beginning of the Malecon there was a white and big building. This was the one Shawn saw and it had garage, cool! We parked outside and went to the frontdesk. Ok, they had 2 rates, one for rooms with a/c and another for the one without it.
Well, the lady in charge was good in sales, she showed up both kind of bedrooms. A big one with a/c and view of the ocean. The other one, smaller, not much light and not so nice... well... ok, we'd take a look around and make a decision. We started to walk along the malecon, but didn't see anything any interesting besides a nice cafe that was closed when we were here a couple of months ago, haha. We started to talk about the 1st hotel and decided to stay in the expensive room. We'd pamper ourselves. It was just for 1 night ;)
As I said before that lady was good in sales, hahaha. We were back ready to go to our room. Before coming back to the hotel I bought cards, so we could play and kill sometime before we went out. Shawn wasn't so thrilled of the idea of playing cards.
It was about 7pm when we left the hotel. Wow! It was a bit cool outside, brrr. When we decided to go to Puerto Lopez, I was thinking about having a cocktail watching the sunset, but no way! It was cold for that. So good I packed the only long sleeve shirt I had with me in Manta, hehe. It wasn't just my idea, almost all the kiosks at the malecon were closed. So, we decided to go to a nice and small cafe, which looked nice and get a cup of coffee, yay!
The place was small but cozy. It was a multitask place: a bar, cafe and also cybercafe, hahaha. The decoration was charming too, wood, bamboo, lamps, sweet! The lady brought the menus.
While we were waiting I started to take some pics and found out that one of the guys working at the restaurant - guess the husband - was Peruvian too, from the north, sweet! My coffee came first. It was a small coffee cup, like a espresso one and a shot glass with milk, hahaha. The healthiest shot I have ever seen, hahaha. The coffee was toasted by themselves and smelled delicious. All the family worked together here, how sweet!
Then Shawn's coffee arrived. He was expecting a big cup of coffee, but same as me he got the espresso cup and a shot on fire! Of course this wasn't a milk shot, but a brandy one, with the typical 3 coffee beans as decoration.
The guy who was in charge of preparing the coffee came and sat next to us. He started to tell us where this coffe came from -Jipijapa- and how good it was. He was a friendly guy who loved to talk, almost as much as I do, hahaha.
Ok, it was time to keep on moving. Cocktails? no, not today, but Shawn was getting hungry. Really? hahaha. Ok, there was a dish we tried in Puerto Lopez and he never forgot it. The Encocado - coconut seafood. Ok, let's go to the restaurant where we got it last time. And yes! They had it, how awesome! Shawn ordered it and I ordered the Encebollado, which is a soup.
We didn't have to wait long until the food came. We were surprised how fast they served food to everyone and everybody were ejoying different dishes but everyone was happy. The Encocado was delicious as expected and the Encebollado was a very pleasant surprise. The warm soup was what I needed. I have already tried an encebollado, but just fish, and this one had seafood and of course big shrimps too. Was perfect! Wow! We both were full and started to walk back to the hotel.
Well, I had a confession to make: I was crawling for a sweet!!! After laughing and making fun of that, Shawn agreed to look for one. I haven't seen many bakeries or dessert places in Puerto Lopez.
There weren't many desserts announced, but we have already chosen apple pie for me and brownie for him. The owner came with the menu and I didn't even let him leave them without asking for desserts. He apologized and said they didn't have all the desserts in stock, oh no! Just the apple pie and brownie, how awesome! Ok, that was a signal, having dessert that night was a MUST, hahaha. After a while he came back with the desserts, but what took him so long? Well, they didn't have ice cream and Shawn wanted ice cream, hahaha. So sweet they run to the store for it :)
My apple pie was warm and looked very good.
Wow! Now we were too full, not even able to think about food, hahaha, well maybe a bottle of water, hahaha. We went back to the hotel. Internet was slow, but still logged in. I guess all that sugar kept me awake for a while, hahaha. Even found time to watch some tv before falling asleep. Tomorrow we'd drive back to Manta... time to come back home was getting closer...
