This journal comprises a couple days of stories and pics. Starting with meeting my friend Milena at a small shopping center called "carrefour" and ending with the sad life story of Andres Escobar(now one of my favorite human beings).
I had the opportunity to hangout with my friend Milena a few times and enjoyed it, not til the end of my trip more do to busy schedules but it was good to hangout. It was a bit difficult at times for me to get my thoughts across as my spanish was basically non existant and her english not that great but trying. This was our first time meeting solo(1 on 1) I enjoy this as it gives u a different perspective of the person than in group settings. Especially if i feel a good friendly connection to a person i wish for this to see if can be good friends in future.
still need to write about a great burger experience, the Andres Escobar story and our time playing ultimate frisbee at the park named after him. Also pics of Val on this page, other misc pics, etc.. include escobar 30 for 30 story...
Andres Escobar is a national sports hero for the Colombian people, for what i can tell he was an outstanding human being , wanting to do right by his people and tried to be ethical and kind in every chance he got. There is a great documentary on TV in the states on ESPN, ESPN CLASSIC, AND ESPN DE PORTES that chronicles his life a little and how it intersects with the well known drug lord "pablo escobar"(i will put a link before to show you dates it will be on TV).
http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5313049 this is a mini clip, the real video is 1:45 in length, it is truly great to see how pablo escobar impacted andres life and i think if pablos life had been different in the end perhaps andres life could have changed in the end also.
here is what wikipedia says about andres, but the 30 for 30 ESPN special 'the two escobars" is the best info i have seen. hopefully soon the will release the full video online or i can find it soon... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andres_Escobar
