Another national park..

Today I decided to go se the Cahuita national park which goes along the beach. it is one of the smallest parks in the county, so doesn’t take all that much time. It is quite annoying to walk to Cahuita, as it is crawling with these creepy Caribbean rasta guys trying to sell you Marihuana, and coconuts . They are so skinny, look like they just do their pot instead of food.
They are so stereotypical that it`s almost scary, from the Jamaican English to the heavy rastas`to the weed smoking. One of these guys came towards me rapidly with a very big machete….was a bit scary, but he was only trying to sell me a coconut(for whatever reason..)
This place does certainly give off a Caribbean vibe, the people here are so relaxed and slow that I mistook them for drunks in the beginning.
The park was really nice to walk through, an amazing trail set against the beach on one side, and a tropical rainforest with rivers and lakes on the other side. There was an abundance of wildlife as I saw colonies of Capuchins and howler monkeys, as well as finally seeing my first wild sloth ! Such fascinating creatures ,none better !
It was nice to not be on “a tour” as well, as I could spend as much time as I wanted to enjoy watching the animals, and their interactions with each other.
There is even a coral reef outside of the beach here, but not allowed to snorkel without a guide… very annoying as I think I can manage to snorkel without paying 18$ for a guide….so I skipped that. But I did go for a swim…and those currents are just the strongest I’ve ever felt, could barely stand upright!
It was all in all a very nice national park, possibly the nicest one I’ve seen, compared to the 3 other parks I went to.
In the evening I had an amazing Caribbean meal accompanied by the beats of Bob Marley… this place is great !
