Copiapo is a small town inland in Chile. Established as a mining town and did well for itself it in heyday, boasting a few firsts for Chile, such as a railway. We spent a day and a half here and it was enough to enjoy the sunshine, wandering the streets, exploring a fruit and vege market, catching ourselves up with blogs and eating at the local restaurants.
The highlight was a good hour look around their natural mineral museum. Minerals are cool and very colourful. My favourite was CuSOH2H2O a cool blue one, Luke likes the glow in the dark dust stuff. Helped us remember our school chemistry formulas (Dad Bowers would be proud).
From here it was yet another bus to La Serena and the beach. I'll let Luke tell you about that one.
Lots of love,
