Today is a travel day to the Isla de Ometepe in Lago de Nicaragua.   We packed into the van after breakfast and headed to the San Jorge port to catch the ferry.  The ferry looked pretty sketchy, very similar to all the other modes of public transportation over here.  We all split up on the bottom deck and found seats.  The views from the ferry were pretty amazing.  You could see the two volcanos that made up the island of Ometepe: Concepcion and Maderas.  Ometepe is the largest island on Lake Nicaragua and it's name means "the place of two hill."

We arrived on the island and was greeted by our local driver.  The ride to our hotel from the port was full of amazing scenery.  The island was full of lush vegetation and views of the two towering volcanos.
We enjoyed the rest of our day relaxing next to the water at the hotel.  The water looked kind of murky and had a bunch of those nasty flies hovering above the water, it was an infection waiting to happen.  My leg was still healing so I didn't go into the water. The views were absolutely amazing, I think the sky changed about 4 times while we were out there.  It started out as a beautiful clear blue sky. Then during sunset the sky and clouds turned into amazing shades of pink, purple, and orange.  Within a few minutes the sun was gone and the sky was completely dark.  Then the winds started to pick up and was soon followed by lightening and then rain.  The rain ruined our bonfire on the beach plans and we ended up staying at the hotel for dinner and drinks.  We shared a bottle of Flor de Cana (delicious Nicaragua Rum) and got to know each other better.
