Prologue (written shortly before takeoff)

In just a few precious hours I once again make the trek to Milwaukee where I will catch my AirTran flight non-stop to St. Louis (for $39 each way!).  After all I have read about the city and safety, I ponder what I might find when I exit the train at my hotel stop around 10pm tonight having to cross the dark Busch Stadium parking lot.  Traveling as a lone female sometimes has its challenges!

I booked my room back in April through Priceline and ended up getting a Hilton near the arch for only $50 per night! Supposedly, there are 2 basic views from rooms here, one of the arch and the other of Busch Stadium. I can hardly wait to see which one I get tonight!

Since I've had time to do some research I have maps in hand, 50% off coupons for restaurants where I want to eat, cheap airfare and hotel, and the layout of train stops where I can buy a day pass for only $7.50 for all day travel anywhere in the city.  My micro-budget shouldn't stop me from creating a fantastically memorable trip!  Now, pair all of this with the fact that I get to see Mark (Travelman727) again and meet James (peacetoyou), both of whom are almost legendary here at TB!  I think I'm in for a great time, don't you?

This blog will be a combination of my three day story intertwined with tips and details as a travel guide to help those on foot and taking the train find their way efficiently through the city.  I found plenty of places to see but it took trial-by-fire to get where I'm going, I can save you time!

I am so happy that you found the St. Louis Blog helpful, Nicole. I wrote it specifically to encourage solo travelers to explore. St. Louis is now really one of my favorite cities!
