DAY 13- Venice
Venice was the city I was most looking forward to on the tour, and it did not disappoint! We had an early morning, as we had to drive about twenty five minutes to get our 8:30 ferry. Once we got there, we saw a glass blowing demonstration, which was really cool. After that, we started our day of sightseeing and exploring. Celia, Jess, Renee, Lee, and I got some shopping done, and took a lot of photos. And, of course, we got lost. Thankfully the signs leading to Per San Marco, Per rialto, and per Accademia were posted everywhere to help us find our way! Most of our shopping was done in the little stalls and shops near the Rialto Bridge. We had reservations for a gondola ride, so we all met up at Piazza San Marco (St. Marks’s Square) and headed to our gondolas. The ride lasted about ½ hour, and it was great! By the time we got off the gondola, it was time to eat dinner, so Micah, Victoria, Tom, Kristen, Melissa, Celia, Jess, Nicole, and I found a nice little restaurant and had a great dinner. Once done, we met back up at St Mark’s Square and walked back to the ferries to catch our ferry back to the mainland. Once there, we sat around and had a couple drinks in the hotel lounge, before going to bed. I LOVED VENICE!! It was expensive, seeing as it’s oriented to tourists. It’s even a different price to eat standing up then it is sitting down when in little cafes! It even felt really busy. Until now, all the places we’d visited had been very busy, but it never felt overly busy. Venice, however, FELT busy. That said, it was absolutely gorgeous, and had so much to experience. And, a place where you can wander the streets while drinking a beer is a great place!
