Torrey Pines
We got up late, shower, makeup, change... I went down to the business center to charge my iPhone. Hilton charges $7 for 15min Internet, but guests can print out boarding passes for free. While I was waiting for my phone to resurrect, a guest turned away by that exorbitant fee. I wonder if it'd be better for the hotel to lower the rate a bit, same thing for their $5 water bottle in the room. Helas, I was only able to bring my phone from dead to almost dead when the girls were ready to go.

We went back to Convoy street, Anne was craving for Vietnamese food. After a few more detours and "I'm starving" whines, we pulled into a Vietnamese restaurant on Linda Vista Road around 1:30pm. The food was pretty good, we continued the gastronomic immersion for Nancy W.

After the brunch, we bought some more sweet treats and sandwiches in a shop nearby.

It was a beautiful sunny day, warmer and breezy. We got to Torrey Pines and hiked down the sandy trail to Black Beach. Hang-gliders and para-gliders were flying off the cliff. I wish one day I could paraglide solo. The short hike led us to a "cloths optional" beach with pretty dark sand. Hmm, it looked like a lot of men took that option vs. only a handful of women. As we were walking along the beach, I wondered why these naked men didn't go swim in the water nor lie down on the sand. They just stood there, turned around and around, and offered to take photos for us when we passed by. Maybe they were thinking hard about how to connect with Mother Nature? But where were all the sexy bodies I saw on photos about California beaches, these exhibitionists were a far cry, eeeww...
