Sunset photo ops and Italian seafood dinner on Coronado island
September 6, 2009
We were a few minutes too late when we got to the beach in front of Hotel del Coronado. The sun had just gone down the hill in the distance. Nancy took out her almighty camera and put us to work. She had some creative shots. Here and there, there were bonfires right on the beach that looked so inviting. I wish we'd stayed here. Beaches along California coast are accessible and have nice weather, but they're not the best ones I've been to.
Coronado Island, just 15min drive from Gaslamp district, is a laid-back beach town and attracts a different crowd. By 9pm, the main street lined up by Italian restaurants was getting sleepy. We picked one with a good seafood menu, ordered a bottle of white wine and toasted to our happy and courageous girl. She's leaving the simple side of life to its more complicated side :-)
Back to the hotel, we had our version of bonfire by the pool, with chips, sandwiches, and a bottle of German white wine. We chatted the night away, it was a good time.
