Arrival at SAN airport.
We flew AA1105 on an S80 to land at SAN on time at 7:15p. The cool air was so refreshing, the workweek seemed like long gone. SAN looks new and bright, with its facade resembling CDG's. Anne was quite excited about her first time in CA. The six of us fit nicely in a mid-size SUV (2 front, 4 back), and there we rolled to the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. The view brought back the vague memory of a brief evening I'd spent in the Gaslamp district back in March 2008, but I was still impressed by the modern look of downtown San Diego. Just imagine waking up in one of those high-rise condos, seeing ocean behind the flying curtain, and smelling the ocean lingering in the cool air.
We would've stayed at the Sheraton had I booked earlier, my bad. The interior of the Hilton is that of the city: young, hip, and modern.
Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel
It's at the end of the hotel strip by the Bay, backing to a ...lovely Amtrak station. Oh well, we didn't spend much time gazing at the Bay out of our windows anyway. After checking in, we went for dinner at the Asian quarter on Convoy street. I'd forgotten the outlet adapter for my iPhone which has a built-in GPS, so we ran on its little battery life left and Thao's memory, and maybe our sense of smell as well. But aren't a few detours now and then very typical for a car full of girls? Many people are amused by getting lost when they travel, but I wouldn't find it as fun when you're in a group that has a specific kind of food in mind and the group is hungry!
I promise to bring along the charger next time ladies!
