We arrived in Amsterdam and found our hostel. We stayed at the Hotel San Luchesio. It was a nice place that was in a quiet neighborhood off the beaten path. Our room overlooked Vondelpark...it was very peaceful. We decided to head out and spend some time on the town. We went to the Rijksmuseum and enjoyed a relaxing walk around Vondelpark...so beautiful! It was just becoming warm enough to enjoy a day outside, and I think half of Amsterdam was there! It was so great to see everyone relaxing, playing and enjoying this beautiful park. The flowers were starting to bloom, and I enjoyed taking some pictures of them. It was just a pleasant, relaxing afternoon!
After considering several options for dinner, we decided on an Irish pub. We ordered hamburgers, and I think it was the best burger I've had in my life! The atmosphere was great as well.
We walked around a little more, walking through a little of the red light district. We stopped by a bar near a coffee shop Jim's dad had frequented. The coffee shop was closed, but we actually ran into the guy who had run it when Jim's dad would go there. It was a weird, "small world" kind of thing! We had a lot of fun visiting with him and his girlfriend before heading back to the hostel for a good night's sleep.
Hard to believe we fly home tomorrow. What a great trip!
