And we're off...

New York Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

My husband and I spent 2 weeks on a backpackpacking trip to Eastern Europe. We started in Amsterdam, the took trains to Brussels, Brugge, Salzburg, Bratislava, Prague and Budapest. After a week in Budapest, we took a train up the Reine River and capped our trip with a couple of days in Amsterdam. I hope you enjoy reliving my trip with me.

And we're off...

Here I am on Broadway!!! I only wish it was in a theatre...sigh.

After months of planning, and not nearly enough sleep, Jim and I are finally on our way!  We've got a 4-hour layover in Newark, New Jersey, so I'm taking my darling husband into the big city, since he's never been there!  (I spent a week in NYC about 13 years ago.)  Of course, 4 hours isn't really enough to spend in the city, but he can at least say he's been there.

By the time we got there by train, we only had an hour before we had to head back.  It was worth it, though!  We arrived at Penn Station and Madison Square Garden.  We stepped outside, and there was the Empire State Building...the one thing Jim wanted to see!  Of course, we got a pic of him in front and thenwalked down to 34th Street and Broadway.  I got my picture of me on Broadway (probably the closest I'll come to the real thing!), walked around a block or two, then headed back to the airport.

I'm really looking forward to this trip!  I know a lot of people hate trans-Atlantic flights, but I always sleep pretty well and wake up refreshed.  And believe it or not, I kind of like airplane food.  I guess that's why I travel so well:  my taste in food isn't too high!

I enjoy the entertainment systems they have now in the planes! The last few trips back to the US I have my own TV and a touch screen with loads of options! So its super easy to cross the Atlantic now with 3 movies under my belt after the flight!!
