The Calm Before The Storm
Unfortunately the train could not bring us all the way to the island so we had to get off, get a bus and then finally hop on the ferry to the island where we would then get a tuk tuk to the resort. Sounds like fun eh? Still though, it definitely beats being in work I must say.
Things went well even if the ferry seemed to last forever. It was damn hot too. I know I know. Its rich to hear an Irish man who complains about the rain all year, yet when he finally goes away and gets the sun, he says its too hot and wouldn't it be nice to have a little rain to cool things down a lil.
We were staying in the B52 resort, its right on the beach and has an infinity pool complete with swim up bar. On second thoughts, cancel the rain. I think I am going to like this place.
We had organised a spare bed to be put into each of our huts as there was so many of us but this didnt happen. This was not a problem. I was sharing with my two brothers (Jeff & Bryan) anyway so we just rotated between the two beds and one on the floor each night. It was not long before both the pool and the swim up bar were being taken full advantage of. We took advantage of happy hour too. Shame was, the buckets were half price but they only had 4 buckets in the bar anyway....this caused a lot of upsets let me tell you.
It is true that I spent most of today hiding out in the shade. It was not due to being badly sun burnt as all the others kept suggesting. Although I did get quite a colour. Red is a colour isn't it!
After a few more hours of doing not a whole lot, we eventually managed to beautify ourselves for a night out.
Some of us naturally took longer than others at this and then again, some probably just should not have bothered. Surprisingily Bennie's hair didnt take that long at all to get ready. With the troops assembled, we set off in search of the main town in Had Rin.Only problem is, we didnt know where that was but Ying was certain it was only around the corner. This explains why I thought it would be a good reason to carry Hannah on my back. It was not around the corner. Had we decided to keep walking, myself and Hannah would probably still be on the way there now.
We got a tuk tuk. Eventually we found our way to a place that Lori had suggested for dinner. Think it was the Same Same bar. The food here was delicious. I should know. Lets just say, I should really learn from the past.
The next time I eat dinner with a load of girls, I am only buying a salad. I ended up being "forced" to help Ruby, Mel and I think Jeff (not a girl, but a manly Russian assassin who probably drank too much vodka) to finish their dinners. From here the night really took off. We got our first sight of the Full Moon beach and emotions ran high with anticipation for tomorrow nights once in a life time adventure.
The beach was alive. There were flame throwers, people tripping over a flaming skipping rope, poi swinging people and many, many drunken revellers ready to party the night under the stars until the sun comes up again.
Oh what a night! I feel sorry for tomorrow night. How could a night top this one. It had everything. It has fun, excitement, plenty of tension, mountains of mushrooms, more excitement, crazy people, an interesting tuk tuk home and a swimming Hannah in the pool talking to the moon.
Ping. Ping. Ping.
