Arriving in the
May 4, 2007
After a long 10+ hour flight, Luqman and I arrived in Buenos Aires, early Friday morning. Customs and immigration were very pleasant and fast. Thankfully our luggage got to Buenos Aires safely and we proceeded to take a car to our apartment in town.
The cab driver was very friendly and conversed with us about everything from soccer to politics to interracial dating. The weather was pretty dreary and it had an effect on the traffic. It took us more than an hour to get to our apartment from the airport.
We finally arrived in our apartment in Palermo Viejo. This part of Buenos Aires is somewhat like midtown in Atlanta. It is pretty safe and consists of young trendy inhabitants. Palermo has lots of parks and green space. We checked in and unpacked. Then Luq and I proceeded to both take naps due to the exhaustion of our journey.
After we both woke up from our naps, we went outside to walk around and grab some dinner. We found a nice little Argentine restaurant a couple blocks down from our apartment and had a great meal. Then we walked down to a ice cream parlor and had some world famous Argentine gelato. Afterwards, we went to the grocery store to pick up some supplies and headed back to the apartment.
When we came back, we watched some soccer and then Luq and I called it a night to ensure that we would get enough sleep for our first official day in Buenos Aires!
