First day of 40th Anniversary of Jazz Fest

Up and out bright and early to head over to Liuzza's (local bar by the racetrack - 3636 Bienville Avenue, New Orleans, La. 70119) to meet up with friends and start the day with a bloody mary.  Head in to the festival and just enjoy the great food and music -- Tab Benoit in the Blues Tent, In the Gospel tent, Tribute to Mahalia Jackson featuring Irma Thomas, Mavis Staples and Pamela Landrum, the Benjy Davis Project....

Headed on back to condo, changed and headed over to Coop's Place (1109 Decatur Street, New Orleans http://www.coopsplace.net/), a local restaurant. Probably the most inexpensive yet delicious food.  I had the Chicken Tchoupitoulas "A mouth-watering combination of boneless chicken breast sauteed with cream sauce and flavored with shrimp and tasso. Served over rice with our Creole green beans." $11.95.  And, let me tell you, sets your mouth on fire. But so delicious.  A MUST if you are in NOLA.
