Day 3 - off to Grado

Trieste Harbour

After a lie in we checked out of the B&B for 11 and hit the streets of Trieste one last time.  I had printed a ferry schedule off the APT website and was looking forward to a nice boat ride across the bay to Grado enjoying more sun and checking out all of the sailboats.  We walked down to the pier where the boat was due in at 1pm and went to the market (lots of tents) to get some food and wait it out.

The wind was blowing incredibly hard so eating and keeping things together wasn't so easy.   The sun was bright and warm though so the people watching and waiting wasn't an issue.  There is a distinct lack of signs for the ferry and schedules apparently don't mean much as a ferry did arrive but it didn't seem like ours and it wasn't leaving until 1 hr after the departure time we expected.  We hung out for 30 more minutes and then darted off to the bus station.

Fortunately we got the last bus and were on our way.  The route was the same as the way in for the first 40 minutes but the last 20 were all new and spectacular.  Grado is a little peninsula so you drive on a road with water all around and loads of boats!  Finally we got to Grado, a few hours later than desired and minus one boat ride (I recommend some more research and figure out the ferries or call the company because the bay is lovely and would no doubt be amazing to cruise across it).
