Day 2 - Barcola and Miramare

Woke up fairly early for our first full day and skipped the B&B's dismal attempt at breakfast of prepacked brioche.
Sunny weather had us stopping for a quick coffee and setting off for the bus back to Miramare. The original plan of lounging on the coast all day shifted slightly when the bus blew right by the stop and we ended up at the castle in Miramare. Turned out to be perfect, a quick tour of the grounds and some great photos and we were back on track for sun and swimming.
We walked for about an hour along the coastal pathway taking in the sun and sea air and settled down at one of the swimming spots. It is very rocky here in Barcola so you climb a little staircase to get out of the sea and the seafloor is full of little slimy plants on the rocks. You get used to it quickly though and cool water is much needed after the hot sun.
We spent the afternoon here relaxing and took the local bus back to Trieste to shower and get ready for dinner. Just as we made it to a place to eat a storm broke loose with incredible lightening over the bay and a lot of rain for a short period. It stopped by the time we finished and were back to the B&B for bed.
