Day 1 Trieste

Woke up early in London ready to leave for the Bank Holiday. Irritatingly a check of the weather reveals that London is due to have sun for the entire weekend (this hasn't happened in how long?!?). We bought our Stansted Express tickets off the Ryan Air website (a good tip to save a few £), printed them at the station and settled in for a pleasant Ryan Air flight - announcements every 10 minutes in 2 languages, stuffing eveyrthing for a weekend in a rucksack to avoid checked baggage fee and no recline in the seat keeping it just far enough away from the rugrat behind you trying to kick it. All good!
We get to Trieste on time, no problems and feel the 10 degree rise in heat as we step off - instantly happy.
We cross the countryside driving through mini vineyards and corn fields and finally reach the coast by Duino. We aren't close enough to see the castle from the town but we do catch a peak later as the bus winds around the bay and we can look back. The view to the right is a clear blue Adriatic full of sailboats and people tanning. Soon we see Miramare Castle which is about halfway and prep ourselves for Trieste. 15 minutes after disembarking we are outside the B&B -Svevo E Joyce trying to work out which buzzer to ring. Luckily some Italians are coming out and direct us. Check out the review.
We grab a beer and put on the swimsuits for the Trieste Beach. What a disapointment! The first beach was split by gender - Males to the right and Females to the left!?! I thought this was relaxed Europe? Anyway, passed on that one and the one next to it looked more like a complex so we thought better of it and went out for some pictures of the harbour.
