das schöne Wien
July 23, 2009
Last month, July, Ive been to Vienna twice and totally loved the place =) my first trip to Vienna was on the first week of the month. when we landed there, it was raining, and it was really pouring, alright... the airport was closed due to the heavy rain... Locals said it doesnt rain much in Austria =( on that trip, i just stayed in the hotel and had room service =( went back to Vienna on the 23th of July, this time the sun is up and shining! =) checked in at marriot and went straight to catch a train to Schonbrun Palace... ahhh upon enetering the gates, i was mesmerized by the size of the palace and its gardens... went to tour inside the palace for around 12 euros... the palace was amazing, i learned a lot of things about the history of the country and the royal families.
.. and i also learned that mozart is from Austria! =) anyways, we strolled the rooms of the palace and even if it was forbidden to take pictures, i did!!! (stubborn, i know)... after the tour in the palace, headed down to the huge garden! i mean really huge! with the manicured lawns =) we walked around the gardens for a good 3-4 hours! there was even mazes in the garden which is separated from the main ones. we tried to go through the mazes and was lost a couple of times, haha! when we headed back into the hotel, the sun was almost down so had dinner... had local beer and bolognese =) the next day, i walked around the streets and wondered why there isnt so much people in that place... i was wandering in the city center and yet, i can count the people i had encountered- even in Germany, i have the same experience... anyways, after buying stuff from the grocery to take home, i went to Stadt park which is just situated infront of the hotel. ahhh... what a beautiful day it was... =) the park was well maintained, clean with crisp air =) there was a lake in the park so i just sat there with a book feeling the breeze and the singing of birds in the trees =) and fyi, if you ever go to vienna, dont miss the ice cream! best tasting ice creams in the world!
