mud city
August 4, 1999
Well, if you lived in an area where you've got lots of sand and water, wouldn't you build one of the biggest mud cities in the world? I thought so too. The archaeologists working at a number of sites here are chipping away at the ground to reveal some pretty interesting stuff. It's hot, being in the middle of the desert. And there are temples (to the sun and moon), revealing all the more complex of ancient societies that came and passed on. Oh, and there is this petrol station along the road...not near anything much...which has completely dug a large basement and turned it into the best museum on the archaeological remains of the region's history.
