On Saturday I had to work as usual: I awoke at 4:00 am and did the usual shower, brush teeth, take a cup of tea, rush out the door and be at work by 5:00 am or 5: 30 latest. The night before I had had dinner with my friend Matt and his daughter, we talked of the Wizard of Oz and the impact it has had through the ages. Well we had a child dinning with us so we had to follow suit on the conversation. We chatted a little about the abduction of the 11 year California girl and how she happened to be at the police station at the time she was and how no one was able to find her for over 17 years. I left after dinner seeing as I had to give a friend a ride home. Back at work this morning, I worked my 4 hour shift and left work at exactly 9:35 am. I sent Matt a text message to let him know I was ready but AI so wanted to have a hearty breakfast: Mimi's Cafe I suggested. Matt picked me up at my apartment and took me to breakfast at Mimi's cafe where I had breakfast, Matt declined to join me since he and his daughter had had breakfast earlier.
After breakfast we picked up a few things from his place (A book, water and some snacks) and then headed straight on out of Tucson . . . It would be a three hour journey to Silver City in New Mexico, but it ended up being a little longer than three hours because we made a stop at "The Thing" museum of the Native Americans, Wilcox, and Safford before arriving in Silver City at a little after 5:00 pm. New Mexico is an hour a head of Arizona and much cooler too. I was glad the weather was good, plus we arrived before dark giving us the time to see a little more of the town. Matt is an excellent driver I must compliment him.
For purposes of easy reading and to dedicate this blog entirely to the state of New Mexico alone, I shall not include the details of our stop in Wilcox and Safford in this blog, however I shall detail them under the My ARIZONA Travels blog.

This blog will entirely focus on New Mexico and my adventures in this State alone. New Mexico is located in the Southwestern United States and is known as the Land of Enchantment: rightfully so because of it's rich heritage and geographical position. It also has the largest percentage of Hispanics: it was for centuries inhabited by Native Americans as well as been part of the Imperial Spanish influence from New Spain.
The State of New Mexico takes third position in percentage of Native American residents after Alaska and Oklahoma respectively.

The Native American population in New Mexico is large making it the fifth most inhabitated state by Native Americans after Arizona, California, Oklahoma and Texas. The Navajo and Pueblo tribes are some of the most dominant; the result of this cultural impact makes the demographics of New Mexico unique with a strong combination of Mexican, Native American and Spanish influences. Come with me; let's see what we find along the way in this land of enchantment. I hear Santa Fe is a city to be seen, that should be my next stop in New Mexico.
