Day 4: Leura
As feared we hardly slept during the night, I didn't slept at all and then the alarm went off at 6:00am. We had to get up early because we were picked up at 7:15am for our day tour to the Blue Mountains. We had a quick breakfast, which we bought the day before at the supermarket. At 7:15am we were picked up by APT, the tour company that would take us to the Blue Mountains and the other excursions.
We were driven to a bus area where various tours started, as some people had booked different tours. After everyone was aboard, we headed out of Sydney, across the Anzac Bridge through the western suburbds of the city. in the distance we could see some of the olympic venues. We made a stop around 10:00am in a small town called Leura. It was chilly outside, around 12 degrees and quite windy, really winter weather but luckily dry.
We had 45 minutes to walk around and buy something to eat and drink. The town itself is very nice, with one main street which goes uphill or downhill, depending on where you're standing. The shops are located on the main street and surrounded by nice houses. One of the stores we were surprised about to find, was the "Christmas Cottage". It was august and there was a christmas shop! Maybe there are more permanent christmas stores in the world, I don't know, but in Holland the first christmas items don't appear untill well in october. I bought a small christmas kangaroo for my mom, as a souvenir.
- Distance traveled: 62 miles or 100 kms
