Day 4: Blue Mountains, Three Sisters and Scenic World
We got back onto the bus and we drove towards Echo Point, for a view of the "Three Sisters" a rock formation which, according to an aboroginal legend, were 3 sisters (Meehni, Wimlah and Gunnedoo) who were fleeing for a monster and their father, who was a magician, transformed into the rocks so they could escape from the monster. Then the monster chased the father and he transformed himself into a rock in order to escape from the monster. His plan worked, but he lost his magic wand that could undo the spells. This was one of several legends about the "Three Sisters" according to our driver.
After about 20 minutes out on Echo point, we headed back to the bus. For some of the people on board it was a blessing, as the wind made it really chilly.
We drove towards Scenic World, which gives you a chance to walk around in the rainforest, as well as viewing the "Three Sisters" and the "Blue Mountains". We arrived there around 12:00pm and we had 90 minutes to walk around and have our lunch at one of the restaurants. At the Scenic World we bought a "Valley Return" ticket, which meant we would go down towards the rainforest using the "Railway", which is at one point almost vertically down, then walk around the "Walkway" through the rainforest towards the "Cableway" for our way back up to the restaurants. There we decided to eat at the revolving restaurant, which turns 360 degrees around for a view of the Blue Mountains. For lunch I tried my first kangaroo meat, bu it wasn't really cooked well, so I left the meat aside, then ate a pasta meal... yes, I worked up an appetite after my breakfast was at 6:00am! Then it was time to get back to the bus and make our way to the next stop on our tour: Featherdale Wildlife Park.
