I'm not ready for artificial temperature

I drove my car for 7 hours straight from my hometown in Teluk Intan to Kuala Besut Jetty in the East Coast Peninsula Malaysia. Along (my nephew’s nickname) was supposed to be in his 2nd week college class but ditched it when the opportunity to travel arises. He was in hesitant at the beginning but a little persuasion about being only at the beginning of semester, there’s not much to be worried about. What more he could offers as the whole expenses spent by his cool uncle LOL. We were road tripping to Langkawi 2 years ago the same mode of transportation. But this time Angah (Along’s younger bro) won’t be coming along as he finished school and started working already. Along took this as a token of prize from me after he gets his Dean’s List on previous semester result.

Congrats!

The journey passing through Northern Perak state, the town and region called Grik. It is where Belum Rainforest, Malaysia's premier eco-tourism destinations. The roads that linking the state of Perak to Kelantan via Jeli Town is one of the deadliest roads in Malaysia. It’s become a norm on every festive season the horrifying vehicles accidents made the news headline on this particular route. On every sharp corner and ascending/descending hills, there’s a sign

PANDU PERLAHAN. KAWASAN KEMALANGAN

or in English

DRIVE SLOW, AREA OF PRONE TO ACCIDENT’.

Seriously it’s on every 100m apart that I thought to myself why they shouldn’t put a super giant sign from the start saying

'THE WHOLE LENGTH OF ROAD IS PRONE TO ACCIDENT
’.

That way the Road Authority can save money spent for signs and post.

I made a stop at gas station, refueling and bought road map. Along became my co-pilot, we never lost finding road Kuala Besut Jetty. Arriving around 5 pm for 7 hours journey, I quickly jumped to nearest hotel asking for ferry to Perhentian Island but made known there wasn’t any more as it was low season the ferry only leaving early morning. There are 2 main Island, Pulau Perhentian Kecil and Perhentian Besar. The hotelier asks if I had walk around asking odd boat trip to island so I did after that. And luckily there was a boat carrying Hotel worker and island villagers to Perhentian Kecil Island for RM 25 each.
Snorkel our way to see turtle, colourful nemo and sharks !
But it only was dropping us at Coral Beach, the side of the island that only open during monsoon season. We had the only option to stay at Shari-La Island Resort as the only open for guest during the low season. That wasn’t a bad thing in any way as the price dropped for only RM30/night for triple bed large room. After dumping our backpack we strolled down in the dark of the night through the jungle to reach the other side of the island with the only source of light " my Nokia torchlight mobile phone. The side of beach facing South China Sea has a long beach and bigger waves. It was alleviated hearing the sound of the wave half way walking in the middle of jungle. We spent a brief time by the beach and made our way back to the other side of the Island, slept early because we were heading to the Long beach the for a good swim next morning. It’s heaven!

Earlier on I was approached by the local restaurateur, he has diving and snorkel tours. Low season offers a cheap deal; we got snorkel tour for only RM50 per person all inclusive goggle and flipper. Around 10 am the boat brought us to snorkel area, the first spot was where the turtle is. Then to fish and coral spot, finally the spot where the baby shark is. I truly enjoyed it though the water wasn’t as clear as during high season.
