Upon reaching Chennai airport while waiting the taxi to city centre I strike-up a conversation with young Jewish backpackers. The idea was to team up for the taxi into town so we went for 270 Rupees / 90 each to Central Chennai town centre. We ended up looking for hostel together as none of us has any pre-booking accommodation but all cheap one seems to be fully booked. It was high season, even the locals travelling into Chennai. In the end I checked-in into one of single bed room near the Chennai Train Station and they went to other hotel. I didn’t bother to carry my backpack anymore, 3 hostels before that we asked were fully booked.
The next morning I strolled down to the main street seeing everyday life of the local. There was a group of shirtless kids that I snapped pictures that later their mums sitting by their side wanted to see. It was a big smile on her face. I saw a lot of local youths playing cricket in the field. On my return to the hotel on the same route, I was stopped by this Chennai boy and he took off his shirt and showed me the scars, bruises, tattoos, all over his body (It was outrageous)with the sign for pictures. He saw me snapping pictures of shirtless kids before and tempted to have as well haha. I snapped many and showed it to him.
