Funny moment when there were 2 South American (I think) female travelers who made a huge fuss about their designated seats being occupied by the locals. Come on now, this is public bus in the East; there is no sense of personal space in public area.
The distant isn’t that far on the map but it was pretty far due to geographical location on mountainous bottom of Himalayas. Half way the journey the bus stopped and we were swapped into slightly bigger public bus.
It’s just sort of improper organization that made it excitingly India. I was prepared for the unexpected along the way. I like the Irish/English lads who were enjoying the ride very much that they sat on the bus roof with locals. That’s the true spirits.
Reaching Butwal, town before Sunouli we were again swapped to smaller public minibus but nit the same as before. Finally we arrived in Sunouli around 3.30 pm and the novice travelers had stopped somewhere on the way.
We've been besieged!
I gotta say it was very funny moment when, among themselves they started quarrelling marking which is which their soon-to-be rickshaw passenger LOL. So one by one of us got off the bus and was followed around pestered. I knew how to handle this, when they followed me I just keep quiet and look at the rest of others leading and I waited. The tout who pestered me was non-stop persuading and asked where I was from, that was a good humor. They kept guessing and I laughed them off, and soon afterward was also laughing LOL.Enjoying a good humor and keep smiling helps a lot. Been mistaken to be Nepalese, Japanese, Indonesian, Spanish. Finally I got a good price for 5 km rickshaw ride to the Nepal-Indian Border.
So the boy rode his rickshaw 5 km to the Nepal-Indian Border. I changed Nepalese Rupees to Indian and realized I had paid the rickshaw boy a lot more as the price was agreed in Nepalese Rupees before.
