Rickshaw ride to Nepal-Indian Border
Woken up at 4.30 am planned to walk 4 km to tourist bus terminal but I took a taxi ride only for 50 Rupees. I was the first one at the station, hadn’t paid the rest of additional 250 Rupess I walked to the ticket booth paid. It cost 450 Pokhara to Sunouli. This time it wasn’t the tourist bus ( the hassle free option ) because there hasn’t any departing other than Kathmandu-Pokhara route. I asked for the front seat but it was public minibus and nobody seemed to follow their seats number, so I sat right behind the the driver.

Funny moment when there were 2 South American (I think) female travelers who made a huge fuss about their designated seats being occupied by the locals. Come on now, this is public bus in the East; there is no sense of personal space in public area.
Care to try?
So this women were reluctant to budge when the bus conductor commanded them to give way for other, their reason was they paid more and not for public bus but tourist bus. When the bus left off, dropped and pick up locals along the route, they shouted “hey don’t stop, just move, this is tourist bus”. The looked on the driver’s and conductor face were so pissed off and I thought in any second the complaint’s women would have been thrown off the bus! Luckily they kept their mouth shut for a bit. I didn’t think they’ll survive in India, they were not prepared.

The distant isn’t that far on the map but it was pretty far due to geographical location on mountainous bottom of Himalayas. Half way the journey the bus stopped and we were swapped into slightly bigger public bus.

Chaotic moment as to most travelers haven’t quite figure out what was happening. So our luggage on top of our bus been switched to another bus too. The female travelers continued their attitude and hissing about the hassle and threaten to make police report! Novice travelers!! This is Nepal to India; people come to experience that.

It’s just sort of improper organization that made it excitingly India. I was prepared for the unexpected along the way. I like the Irish/English lads who were enjoying the ride very much that they sat on the bus roof with locals. That’s the true spirits.

Reaching Butwal, town before Sunouli we were again swapped to smaller public minibus but nit the same as before. Finally we arrived in Sunouli around 3.30 pm and the novice travelers had stopped somewhere on the way.
The shadow of me and the Rickshaw
All the bus passengers were almost all travelers, just when the bus entering the bus depot, a group of touts could sense us from a mile away they run raiding at us.

We've been besieged!

I gotta say it was very funny moment when, among themselves they started quarrelling marking which is which their soon-to-be rickshaw passenger LOL. So one by one of us got off the bus and was followed around pestered. I knew how to handle this, when they followed me I just keep quiet and look at the rest of others leading and I waited. The tout who pestered me was non-stop persuading and asked where I was from, that was a good humor. They kept guessing and I laughed them off, and soon afterward was also laughing LOL.Enjoying a good humor and keep smiling helps a lot. Been mistaken to be Nepalese, Japanese, Indonesian, Spanish. Finally I got a good price for 5 km rickshaw ride to the Nepal-Indian Border.

So the boy rode his rickshaw 5 km to the Nepal-Indian Border. I changed Nepalese Rupees to Indian and realized I had paid the rickshaw boy a lot more as the price was agreed in Nepalese Rupees before.

Vikram says:
" I like the Irish/English lads who were enjoying the ride very much that they sat on the bus roof with locals. That’s the true spirits" -- I love that too about a lot of British I've met worldwide. They know how to blend very well with the locals.
