Adena and Cesar at el Río Celeste at Rincón de la Vieja
Back in Guanacaste, my friends missed me and I missed them. At the time of writing this entry, Costa Rica and I were enjoying our last few days together (contrary to what my parents at home believed - SURPRISE!) and starting to enter panic/transition mode. The past ten months have been a roller-coaster, a Utopian getaway, an education and a test all in one. I, for once, can predict the future and can tell you that without a doubt I will be going through a rough time in just a few days, but I wouldn't change one challenge, one beach excursion, one English lesson, or one wilderness adventure for the world. Going home will be fun and nice and exciting for a few days, but as anyone on this web site can tell you, reverse culture shock is a bitch.
My girlfriend and I on our hike

I will miss very close to everything about this place, from the beaches and the volcanoes to the drunken bums in the parks; from the gallo pinto to the Imperial beer; from the random men's catcalls on the street to the shouts and laughter of some of my new but very best friends.

That's the funny thing about my experience here though. I will leave it in just a few hours, but it will never, ever leave me. And maybe it's because I'm young and this is what I'm supposed to do, but I feel some sort of solace in leaving. And I will be back. Who knows when, for it won't be before I get my first real paycheck, which will be awhile because I don't have a job yet... But I will be back. And the magic probably won't be the same when I eventually do make it back on Costa Rican soil, but nonetheless, I will be back to the country and the people in the land I call my second home.
