Santa Cruz Trek - Day 4 - Lots of downhill then back to Huaraz
The last day is not too difficult, Epi even sent us on our way without him just saying 'Meet you at the cross'. Naturally, he managed to catch us about 2 hours before any sign of the cross, so I think that's his little joke.
Probably about 4 hours after setting out form camp we were being harrassed by kids wanting 'caramellos, chocolates' at the end of the hike. After jumping in to a station wagon, we were quite content that we had a relaxing few hours drive ahead of us but no, we're in South America ;) Sure enough the station wagon managed to load up with 5 people in the back, poor George and Nadia copping the brunt of that as I watched on from the front seat. After a change to a mini-bus and many stops later, we were back in Huaraz.
Hot showers rarely feel as good as after long days of trekking, so that and laundry were the first priority. Later on though, Epi demonstrated that his bar-tending skills match up to his cooking as he gave us demonstrations in making (and of course consuming) Pisco sours. Not a bad drink, quite complicated really. We finished the night off with dinner at a local place which sold the, apparently, legendary Argentinian beef. I think everyone agreed that it tasted damn good, but was just too chewy. After all that hiking, and our bodies being trained to sleep not long after sunset, we were off to bed after not too long
