After a solid 12 hours of sleep I woke up for a 10am brekky in our salt hotel, wow that was a good sleep, I was obviously warm enough :)
We waited around for a few hours awaiting arrival of the other team members at 11:30, unfortunately we were on Bolivian time here which means they arrived at 1:30, butwhen you're stuck in the middle of salt flats there's really nothing you cna do except wait! We sat and drank tea surrounded by white, and watched jeeps come and go but it was good to be with people who didn't stress about it.
Finally in early afternoon they showed up and we were introduced to the rest of the group. There was a French couple Mikel and Natalie, a French solo guy on his way to chile (Xavier) and a Norwegian girl Maria. Our tour guide for the journey was Juan.
Drove on for an hour or two to Isla del Fescada (island of fish) which is a whole bunch of cactii on rocks in the middle of nothingness. It's quite amusing here to watch all the gringos do their salt poses, because the white vastness continues on forever, there's no sense of perspective so you get some cool photos. After laughing at everyone, of course I did my own as well :)
Back in the jeep and I was in the back seat, right hand side which was bad for glare, and it was a short drive on to a small town that seemed to have an abundance of cute, friendly cocker spaniels everyhwere. We went for a walk and found a local shop for some beers and wine which we drunk watching the sunset and the stars on the thin balcony at the front of our hostel.
